Nymphaea Chromatella
Nymphaea Chromatella
Nymphaea ‘Marliacea Chromatella’ - 21cm pot
Commonly known as Golden Cup, this is not only one of the most reliable yellows, but one of the most popular water lillies regardless of colour. A slow growing variety, sometimes making an enormous size. Conversely it can sometimes rot away in anaerobic and acidic conditions. This hybrid was created by Latour-Marliac, France, in 1887.
Water depth: 30-75cm
Spread: 100cm once established.
Flowering time: June to September.
Planting time: Plant rhizomes should be potted during the growing season only, in the spring and summer. For this variety of waterlily we would recommend planting your water lily rhizome into a 5L mesh pot or bigger if permitted.
Aspect: Position in full sun, ideally with a minimum of 6 hours of sunshine each day.
Hardiness: Fully hardy, grown outdoors in our lily ponds. We do not “force” our waterlilies in greenhouses or tunnels so they are fully hardy and ready to be planted out straight away.
